Obviously he believes in it, but this is pure self-sabotage as it will hurt him economically and politically.

And for a president so obsessed with winning every nitty gritty point as he takes to Twitter, his stubborn position on tariffs is economically and politically stupid.

No, I don't think he's aware of how stupid it is.
