f land I homesteaded. The nation in which I live has a government, established locally, at a State level and at a National level.
This government taxes all citizens on their income, their purchases, inheritance, basically, if it moves, it is taxed.
In turn, this government "provides" (after taking that money) vast services to citizens and NON-CITIZENS alike.
It also spends that money on many other things.
At this time, our federal government, despite all of its vast "revenue" is unable to provide the "services" to all citizens and non-citizens which it "intended" to provide.
In short, there are fiscal and physical resource limits to how the government can provide shelter, food, medical care, education and other services to citizens and non-citizens.
I believe a couple of things:
1. Given our government paradigm, there are limits to how many people can be supported before the fiscal system either collapses outright or more likely, simply erodes to the point of putting the very same people who seek entry at risk and in danger.
(there is only so much charity a gvmt can provide before it fails)
2. Immigration policy/law, or the management of who enters and how many and why, is, given our gvmt services and taxation paradigm, is a responsibility gvmt must meet once it decided it would run all of the services.
3. You can have a free trade of labor without having unfettered entry into the country.
Lastly, your premise that everyone is concerned about this issue based on an R and D perspective is condescending, lazy and simply bull#hit.
There are plenty of people other than the Holy Pickle who care about people and issues more than R and D games, so fvck yourself and your holier than thou disposition.
