what do you do with a murderer
- death
- life in prison
- forced restitution for life (which is slavery, btw)
- lower sentence of prison
- other
- nothing
In a perfect world, it would be a situation handled between the offender and the family of the victim.
In a world of pragmatic decentralization (which you know I am after), I would recommend a lower sentence of prison with the understanding that the offender may have a big civil judgment to work and pay off for the rest of his life. But if the victim's family doesn't want that, then they would by no means have to seek it.
With that said, I cannot ever support the intentional killing of another human not in self defense. It is too much of an affront to my morality and principles to ever be bent for pragmatic reasons.
