our fans just can't comprehend or just choose to ignore because they want Jontay to return. Very few players are ready to come into the NBA and contribute right away. Outside of the top 5 or so players, most are projects that are going to require years to realize their full potential. The NBA drafts those projects based on the room for growth that prospects have.

Jontay's youth means many NBA teams see a lot of room for growth and will bump him up a few spots because of the possibility that he could outperform his draft spot in a few years. Each subsequent year that Jontay stays in college is another year where that room for growth becomes more defined. That could work out to his advantage if he improves a lot and shows an even bigger upside or that advantage could decrease and cause his draft stock to drop.
