but no disrespect intended. I always called the previous coach EE because it was easier. To be consistent I could say GF I guess.
And I get what you are saying about Rice, but she still is one of our best two pitchers, for what that's worth. Even if she was going to tire out after 4 innings, at least start her and keep the team in the game for a while. Instead, this game was basically over in the first inning spotting them a 5 run lead. And plenty of teams ride just 3 pitchers all the time.
Maybe I've just been in denial since we were whipped twice by Illinois a week ago. I kept looking for a path to 28 wins. If you can't sweep a SEMO, that path is just not there. After last night I'm looking for a path to 20 wins lol. Maybe we steal a game against Western Illinois, and get lucky at home against Omaha, that would do it lol. Because this is looking more and more like a 1-23 SEC team.
Your comments about the pitching are pretty damning. If Scates is unusable, and Baumgartner gets trashed by SEMO, and Daniel is hardly any better than her, and we don't have any freshman pitcher signed for 2019, then it's going to be an ugly 2 years, at least. There were several factors involved, but on EEs watch the pitching staff was pretty much gutted. And I think he knew it. And he knew the implications of that. He knew this was going to be a really bad season, lots of losing (which he hates with a passion), and no immediate help in sight. He knew that when the 3 new pitchers showed up in the fall.
