But they aren't blatantly obvious to everyone, especially if one makes little or no effort to see and understand them.
Our Lord speaks "in a still, small voice" for reasons that may not be fully clear to us. Saints write that He wants us to seek the Truth... to seek Him. He gives us graces... little tugs to seek out the Truth, a gentle longing to come to know and love Him, who is Love itself.
But it is said that He is not a rapist. He loves us, but will not force us to love Him back. If Truth about ultimate reality is of little concern to us, then He leaves us free to wander around in the dark in our pride... but He's always there, gently calling us to Him. All too often we don't seek Him, or pay attention to His gentle call to us until we reach a dead end... until we hit rock bottom in following our own prideful, misguided way of doing things. Fortunately, He is always there waiting for us with open arms. We always have the opportunity for eternal salvation, to be with Him forever... until the very end, when our lives come to an end, and our life choices say "That's my final answer."
