a function of an actual assault weapon. none of your friends have an AR15 that toggles between semi-auto and a 3 round burst unless they illegally modified it or in a few instances they could own one, as long as it was manufactured BEFORE 1986, as long as they could find a person with the necessary additional ATF license to sell machine guns (rare and expensive licensing process) as long as they had the money to buy one (probably minimum $20,000) and as long as they themselves went through the ATF licensing process; which takes about a year.
