assault STYLE weapons to ban military STYLE weapons to ban weapons designed to kill people.

if you'd like to discuss proposals to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals and nut jobs or how to improve security at schools we can do that in a reasonable discussion.
But, if your first position of "negotiation" on that front is to demand a ban or confiscation of weapons based on cosmetic appearances rather than any discernable mechanical specifications or any statistical evidence that they are even the problem then nothing will be resolved.
