entertainment, and not your life, and to not take losses so personally. My friends know that I am extremely competitive, but there is a line, and if you don't respect it, your life gets out of balance.
I've been a Mizzou fan since I was a boy. I remember my dad stopping what we doing when we were out, to hear the last part of games. Wherli, Gray, and Coach Divine on the football side. I was too young to remember beating Navy.
And I remember him going nuts when Norm would go into the 4 corners with a lead and a lot of time on the clock, and wind up losing the games.
At some point you have to realize you are more than a fan in life, and that it doesn't define your life, it's just part of your entertainment. Now, as alum, the impact on the university makes it more meaningful, but you still have to compartmentalize things, because there are many more important things in life, and you can't take personal responsibility for everything that happens with your school. Unless your are the president or chancelor, it's above your pay grade. So keep it in perspective.
