example the police would still need probable cause to search the car. IMO if the officer asked for paperwork, saw the car was a rental and that the driver was not listed on that paperwork he would have probable cause right there.
A rental agreement specifies who the owner is authorizing to drive their vehicle. Anyone else behind the wheel does not have permission from the owner.
