As a college softball coach myself, albeit at a lower level than Mizzou, I can tell you there is a HUGE push by coaches of all levels of collegiate softball to curb the recruiting of such younger players.

As a matter of fact, at the National Coaches Convention this year, coaches at the D1 level began the process of proposing legislation through the NCAA that will address the current state of early recruiting.

I believe lacrosse has already passed similar legislation and softball and soccer are looking to do the same.

One can only hope.

Unfortunately, until the legislation is passed, in order to compete at the level they must, D1 coaches must continue to recruit by the current rules until changes are made.

Thanks as always for your insight.
