How could I force my logic on you?
If you think that I have made any logical errors, you are certainly free to point out those errors & to correct them.
"but refuse to understand the hypocrisy of your own logic"
Could you please point out the hypocrisy of my own logic so I know what you are talking about here?
"No surprise since you support telling others what to do and using government for that purpose."
Other than the few anarchists here who think that our government is illegitimate I think everyone favors the idea that our government have laws. Laws, after all, are "telling others what to do". Pickle might think that driving drunk at 120 mph through a school zone as school lets out is not a crime as long as no one's rights are infringed (eg. an accident), but most people think that the government should tell people they cannot do that.
If the government should not tell people that it is against the law to deliberately kill other innocent human beings then what legitimate role government play in our lives?
"I do see your point and don't think it is a black/white issue."
I think it is about as clear cut as any issue could be... do not deliberately kill innocent human beings. Yes, there are reasons that the mother may wish that her child did not exist, but the reality is that her child *does* exist. She cannot change that fact. Even if she kills him or her that child exists, she just has a dead boy or girl.
"In this case I favor the law that supports the woman's rights"
I learned a basic precept in a law class at Mizzou that went along the lines of "My right to swing my fist ends where my neighbor's nose begins."
I think that is pretty much common sense. In similar fashion, the abortionist's right to "swing his scalpel" ends where the baby's body begins.
"What I also find interesting is how you are against so many use of government funds to help this poor girl."
I think you are making that up, which is pretty common around here. I don't think she or her child has any less right to any government help than any other people, though I do think that the bulk of the help should come from the father, the family and the community, especially the Churches etc. But in reality, that is a separate issue altogether. It would be absurd to claim that unless someone favored some sort of socialistic government to support poor people, they should not be opposed to laws against drive by shootings... If you don't want to pay for the food, clothing, shelter etc. for the victims who are killed, then just shut up about it.
