"I love movies!" -- wastes time watching movies
"Have you seen GOT?!?" -- wastes time watching TV
"So-and-so's new album comes out tomorrow!" -- wastes time listening to music
"Have you read this new book?" - wastes time reading


Thats the benefit of living in a developed world and not having to worry about survival. You have the privilege of having time to waste. Some time wasters are better than others. TBH, being caught up on current events is not the worst of them.
