Tom was playing by the same rules that every college was, no more no less. Now there where colleges that may not have allowed partial qualifiers...that is their choice.
And that is the same choice that colleges have today, the rules allow, to this day to have academic qualifiers. Many programs and kids choose to go another way, mainly the juco route.
TO retired cause he was old and wanted to get out, had nothing to do with anything else.
To say that TO's 25 year career record of 255 and 39 was a result of having 2 partial qualifiers (within the rules) a year...is simple envy, and "why cant we do that" , they must be cheating...
