If he is going to run the defense then the best option he has is to promote Ryan Walters to the job. He already has half a title for it.
Besides, if BO is going to run it, Walters knows him, his ways of doing things and what he wants. He can take Barry's thoughts and translate it to the practice schedules and game days and leave Barry freed up to do the HD stuff.
Hiring a new guy to be the DC will mean running the risk of another situation like we had if that guy wants to do things his way. AND, that would be a slam at Walters.
If brings in someone new it means a change and he won't be running the D and he will get to make 3 hires perhaps.
