If we can erode the second amendment what is to stop the same thing from happening to our other constitutional rights?

Campus polls currently show that college students think 'hate speech' should be outlawed. Since anything that someone else does not like is currently labeled hate speech where does that leave the first amendment? It would be much easier for police to catch criminals if it weren't for that annoying fourth amendment. What is to stop those protections from being eroded?

If the Constitution is just a guide then we do not have a Constitutional Republic. What you have described is a pure democracy which is one of the worst forms of government. It is simple mob rule.
