The militia is well known. What people don't say is that it was formed by pro-Union folks to defend against confederate bushwackers and actually fought against Quantrill-like pro slave groups mostly from Boone Country. A weird coincidence considering the conference we now play in. Historical facts get reshaped as time goes by.
