It never should have gotten to that pt...he should have had a better idea of what was going on in the locker room and who the main instigators were....how did he not know Mauk was so out of control earlier in the season....I love GP and all he did for the program, but he was seriously detached during that last season....allowing the players to publicly threaten to boycott practice and the BYU game was flat out stupid....siding with the part of team that wanted to that def. started the slide we are on now....and I agree with your pt. about him claiming Mizzou would never be able to recruit another black player is nothing more than a cop out....telling them they can protest on their own time, but that practice and the game continue to be mandatory...like they are in every other program. GP just wanted to this over with as easily and as quickly as he could.
