she is an A-Lister who makes way more money than he ever will. She's a household name. He is someone whose name few people know and those that do can't pronounce it. I would say perhaps his status is a factor, but status doesn't necessarily equate to power. She like many actors may aspire to be a director some day; he has talent at directing and it impresses her. That's probably a major oversimplification, but it could well be part of it.
