It essentially says Mizzou's function is to provide a "good" university education to citizens of Nissouri. Mizzou stopped striving for academic excellence in the late 1990's. It was a knowing and conscious policy decision.

AAU status is based more on the amount of research being conducted than academic excellence.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
