I put Mack in the good-but-not-great category.
My understanding was that her best asset was the way she handled the pitching staff, a quality that is difficult to quantify statistically.
Mack's throwing improved greatly over the course of her career. By her senior season she had become much more adept at the throw to 2B, and showed marked improvement in throwing behind runners at 1B.
She was solid offensively, and developed into a pretty consistent threat at the plate.
However, I was never impressed with her glovework (blocking pitches, catching pop ups, receiving throws from the outfield). If I had been a 3B coach against Mizzou, I would have run on her all day long until she proved to me that she could take a throw from the outfield and make a play at the plate.
Mack was a solid player, and is a great person. But if we're going to compete in the SEC (i.e., at the national level), we need to get better behind the plate.
