You're grouping inaccurately.

Yes, he cratered the program.

Yes, MU is miraculously lucky that CM is tight with the porters and got fired.

There isn't any other conceivable scenario that puts MU out of the crater.

count your blessings, but don't kid yourself about KA's impact on the program.
