Here's some good info that'll give us an idea where we stand with respect to an At Large NCAA softball bid.
In 2014 the team with the highest RPI who did not receive a bid was #41. The team with the highest RPI who did receive a bid was #48.
In 2015 the team with the highest RPI who did not receive a bid was #42. The team with the highest RPI who did receive a bid was #50.
In 2016 the team with the highest RPI who did not receive a bid was #38. The team with the highest RPI who did receive a bid was #47.
So it would appear that if bids were given out today we'd be safe with our #31 if history holds. But history doesn't always hold & what if the committee feels pressured to leave out one SEC team. If that would happen, we'd surely be a candidate.
EDIT: Evidently a team is not eligible to receive an At Large bid if it does not have a plus .500 record. In 2016 Mississippi St was the team with the RPI of #38 but they had a sub .500 record so they were not eligible for a bid. So in 2016 the team with the highest RPI who had a plus .500 record who did not receive a bid was #43. So based on the last three years every team with an RPI of #40 or better with a plus .500 record has received a bid.
