If the US was going to do something, this is what I would have recommended: A measured response aimed with the specific intent of reducing Assad's ability to perpetrate further chemical attacks.
Of course Assad will continue slaughtering his people through conventional means, but Trump appears to be in no hurry to get involved with that. If that is the case, I support him 100%.
Arabs have been killing Arabs for centuries. It predates Islam. They kill like Americans shop. It's what they do.
I don't assume Trump came up with this response on his own, but it doesn't matter. Actually it does matter, because it means he's receiving wise counsel, listening to it, and acting on it.
