Smarter spending is more valuable than throwing money at the problem. So, you can spend less and get more.
China steals our very expensive R&D and makes the same things for 1/100 the cost. Our costly innovation, at 100x the price tag, keeps us a few years ahead of them.
Or take Russia. Their spending is significantly less than ours (about 1/9 or 1/10 our budget). And yet, they are VERY dangerous globally and currently our biggest threat in the world. Do you think our military is keeping them from acting out? HELL NO. They try to provoke us daily.
If we can be smarter about how we compete, we dont have to spend as much. And history is on my side of the argument. We are currently bankrupting ourselves by overspending on defense when reduced spending with proper accounting and allocation would be more effective.
