I would imagine that the only cost is for the use of legal research services (like Lexis Nexis) and it would not cost that much per hour.

The physical act of research is most likely built into the contingency agreement.


And regardless of all the above, it is still a matter of contract between the attorney and client and one that the client does not need to enter into.
