but then under the current socio-economic structure I guess that is what we do.

I read a book yrs back suggesting that rather than MAXIMIZING WORK AND PROFITS AND CONSUMPTION as the current model promotes, that perhaps we might consider flipping that model on its head with minimizing consumption, minimizing work. Rather that applauding and rewarding maximizing, we reward minimizing. It was a wack book I picked up in grad school but it did have something to offer.
