It says it will be "paid on or before April 30th" each year. It doesn't say what the deadline is for when it is "earned". Is it technically earned if he's the Head Coach on day 1 of the season? Or does he have to complete the season? Or would you prorate it?

It's not at all clear. But April 30th is the deadline for when the U has to make the deposit, was the way I read it.
