About pickletopia?
No one seems to accept that these "statistics" all reflect real people. Brother in law got let go right after Obama got in office. Worked his entire life managing automotive transport and relocated several times because he was very good at negotiating union issues. This included a stint in Shreveport, which is a bigger sh*thole to live in then it is to visit for a bowl game.
But the corporate acquisition didn't want folks with his expertise as they could fill his job with someone younger and willing to work for less.
His last contact with folks at the old company he learned its become a crap place to work and all the new owners want to do is build it up, do a public stock offering, and retire on their parts of the company. It's the American way.
And yeah, K-Mart and Sears and all of retail are hurting, but after 34 years with a company it is an insult to say you can keep your job for half pay and part time hours....and for anyone to consider that "employment" for someone with a mortgage and car payment and family.
