I think this is a very atypical sitution

We have a guy who should never have been hired in the first place, puts forth very little effort towards the role, is doing long term detrimental impact to the program, the fanbase has entirely checked out on, and who is doing previously unthinkable amounts of losing. He also openly admits any chance he gets that he has no answers and can do nothing to reverse any of this, and he has basically delegated almost all of the normal head coaching functions to Shields anyway.
