October Surprise was not "debumked".

And it had NO intent of embarrassing Carter.

It was Bill Casey on behalf of Reagan, by the way. It was Reagan's working on behalf of Ron and his campaign for the presidency that met with people associated with Khomeni.

What they tried to avoid was the October Surprise release of hostages that Reagan's people feared would swing the election to Carter. The deal was to hold them. For dramatic effect, hostages were released the day Ron takes office. Months later the missiles were shipped to Iran via Israel and they then looked to fund the Contras w/revenues from the sale. Oliver North was engaged in shredding documents related to this. I watched this all happen.
