you are making a direct link between spending a ton of money on coaches and competence/incompetence

I am saying that the money aspect of the hiring isn't incompetence, it's a different way of hiring

Has it been incompetent in hiring KA on the cheap? Yup. Is making a hire using a smaller budget always incompetent? Nope.
