I've heard advocates both ways - that taking the timeout allows your opponent to set up a D, etc....
that being said, with a team as offensively challenged as this one is, I think you want to set something up and try and get a good shot and get it into the right hands. I don't know, something crazy like, set a double screen for a 3 point shooter.
