is putting too much stock into recruiting rankings and letting that at times override what the player actually is.

Like Gant for example. There's a reason power 5 programs were not lining up at his door when he was transferring.

If Fuller recruited them, they had to be good. If the current regime did, they are a "poor man's [insert average or below Mizzou player from the past]".
