A bunch of random fans LOLing at the hire doesn't bother me.

He went from LSU, where he produced a ton of NFL talent, to Texas. If he had a bad reputation, they wouldn't have gone after him. And then A&M tried to steal him from UT (their DC was his DC at LSU). Again, that doesn't happen if he's bad at his job. UT's DL has been a relative strength for them, as well.

I just don't see where the hate comes from. They say he's not a great recruiter, but if he's mediocre by LSU standards, he's still going to be good for us. They target a different type of player than we usually do.
