that don't show up in the stat sheet, so if you (or a coach) value those things, then you could say NEP is flawed from that perspective.
It doesn't measure most defensive contribution (you can be a great defender without accumulating blocks or steals), which is true of almost all statistical measures. If a player is always in the right place on defense, is a threat on offense that opens the floor even without scoring, and is able to get other teammates in the right places and playing better, he could have a low NEP while still contributing to the team.
So, it's not really a flaw, but you need to understand that it doesn't measure everything a player does on the floor.
