If you think Trump is one of the people in the flyover states, the joke's on you. The guy's probably never taken a punch to the face nor does he have a callous on his hands. Add to that four deferments during the Vietnam War. Missourians don't seem to be the deferring type...
It's moot anyway. I don't know why Americans are so enamored with the thought of electing a guy "who is just like me."
I don't want my president to be like me. I want him to be 10 times smarter than me.
Many of our greatest presidents were elites: Washington, Jefferson, both Roosevelts...
Some were not: Jackson, Lincoln, Truman...
The whole "he's one of us" thing burned us badly with Dubya. I don't want it to happen again.
