has already has begun the search for our new head coach.
I appreciate that Odom is a true son and believe that he's a great kid but the difference from being a high school head coach to the SEC is not even an apples and oranges comparison.
He's obviously way over his head and we can't afford to wait another 3-5 years for him to find his way as a head coach. BO can take his $2,300,000 salary that he has received this past year and ride off into the Oklahoma sunset, so no need to feel sorry for him.
If he still has a passion for football, he can always go back to the high school ranks as a head coach or try to find a job as a college position coach or coordinator and maybe in time he will be prepared to be a P5 head coach.
Some may argue that we don't have the athletes to compete with the top teams in the SEC and they would be correct, but this team is so poorly coached that if we had Alabama's talent I doubt that we could win 7 games. It doesn't matter how good an athlete is when they are rarely in position to make a play. Our defense has been completely lost from the opening snap at West Virginia. It's obvious why Pinkel didn't allow Odom to run this "read and react" defense last year, if he had it's likely that SEMO would have been our only win of the year.
How do you go from #6 in Total Defense to #116 with a "defensive specialist" as your new head coach? Sure Kentrell Brothers was a good football player but he's not Superman.
The bottom line is that this is the worst coached football team that we have fielded in my lifetime and at my age that's saying something. It's much worse than Woody, Stull, Coach Al or anyone else. To think that things will change for the better going forward with this staff is wishful thinking and not based on rational thought.
Get to work Sterk!
