so much more important than the other 1400 minutes in their day.
Despite what Hollywood tries to sell us a teacher is lucky to make a small handful of connections with their students every year. Of those connections we do make most are from outside activities not the classroom. An average class has 25 kids and fifty minutes, when you figure in the time constraints due to curriculum requirements the connections I make with most of my students are very superficial. The reason coaches are so valuable to schools is that they have extended periods of time to form actual connections with a number of kids.
