The universities that I know of are not lowering the bar. There is such a need for teachers that they are allowing people with degrees to teach and take inservice classes by districts to train them. The perception that white teachers do not demand as much out of minority students is a fallacy and racist in itself. I do not demand anything I push everyone I can to excel. Education is not what you think. sometimes you get pushed back when you push to hard (too much homework) The basic problem that we have is our elementary system. Focusing on reading writing and math is most important. So many come through there without those skills
