impact. Our state repealed the permit-to-purchase a handgun law in 2007. A study showed that since 2007 firearm homicide rates have increased by 23% and annual murder rate has increased by 16%. I guess you could just argue correlation does not equate causation though. But still there is evidence that gun related deaths have increased in the last 9 years since we repealed that law.
