I'd say there are a lot of aging, mostly white, non-college educated voters for who don't like the cultural shifts taking place in this country and are scared to death. They feel abandoned by the "elite" and the "establishment" so they're perfectly ok with blowing the place up. So the more out outrageous Trump acts the more they dig their heels in. They love it.

They're not kids, but they definitely have a very immature, simplistic way of viewing the world.
