I thought that the whisky was almost undrinkable. When I get a whisky that I don't like, I try to doctor it with a pinch of Laphroaig, and that almost always works, except this case. It worked moderately well with the Talisker Storm.

I respected Highland Park, and I feel that I was had. It turns out that they're experiencing some serious backlash for the very poor quality of recent releases of the HP 12 yo. It appears that they foolishly used spent barrels for aging, and they're probably bottling the very worst of it in Dark Origins, and trying to doctor it somehow. That they chose to foist it on the general public is one thing, but to market it as a premium whisky is unforgivable.

I'll never buy another bottle from that distillery.
