I've had the Cutter and the Rutter, and was impressed that the Rutter was still good even though the ppm levels are lower. I still like the Cutter better, but I have a bottle of the Flaughter sitting unopened that I'm looking forward to trying.

I'm currently enjoying a bottle of Laphroaig Select that I bought at the distillery a couple of years ago. At the time, Select contained portions of all the Laphroaig general releases...the 10 yo, 1/4 cask, Triplewood, 15 yo, and 18 yo. I can faintly taste the spices that you get in the 18 yo from the longer contact with oak. The current Laphroaig Select is referred to as the Laphroaig for folks who don't like Laphroaig.

There's a lot of great things happening in the whisky industry to counter the bad, namely some really bad no age statement whiskies from some great distilleries. I despise the Highland Park Dark Origins and the Talisker Storm. But, some lesser known distilleries have brought out some great no age statement peated versions, like the Cutter from AnCnoc and younger Peat Smoke versions from Benromach...6 yo, 8yo, and 9 yo. I tried a bottle of the 9 year old and loved it, just not as much as the AnCnoc Cutter.

               1) the price tag, 2) the hype 3) completely muddled whisky - BB63 MU - 10/6 15:27:12
