By 'club' I meant 'dance establishment'... In LA, the guy at the front door has a lot of power over who gets in and who doesn't.
In the rest of the US, I imagine it isn't that different. Bars pick their 'target demographic' and cater to them.
Country bars are not 'gay friendly' 'Mexican friendly' or Middle Eastern friendly' or 'black friendly' even if there is no formal policy of discrimination.
Inner city bars are not frequented (I would imagine) by white, affluent people.
Suburban clubs likely do not want to attract inner city thugs or barrio dwellers and passively discourage their entrance.
