I'm skeptical of the $900m NOL - perhaps that was included on a filed return, but losses change (and sometimes get changed by the IRS.) I'm skeptical that he had basis for that amount of losses - further, the bankruptcies could have reduced (or eliminated) the tax benefit from the losses.
I don't think trumps a scumbag if he had NOLs and used them. I do think he's a scumbag in general though - and I also think that he's hiding some shady/sleazy crap in his (unreleased) income tax returns. (to be fair - I also think that Hillary is a sleazy ***** as well.)
I'm a CPA & have both prepared & used provisions like those in the original link - the author doesn't know what the **** he's talking about (he's confusing financial reporting with what file with uncle sam.) Some will lap up the article - but it's beyond stupid.
I would say that one can learn a lot by a person/candidate from looking at those tax returns. Even if I were inclined to vote for Trump, not releasing the returns would be a deal breaker for me.
