This is NOT hard to understand my position. Trump outlines the US process like - at first - he is praising our civilized approach to issues like this - THEN he turns that on its head to say - DAMN IT !!, We lose our chance to REALLY hurt the guy, to PUNISH HIM. Don seems to suggest public floggings might be the way to go.

You see, I disagree. I have never gone for being more and more harsh in punishment.

OUR GOAL - OUR ASPIRATION, you see, is not be more like the Middle East, but to aspire once again to - as I think Lincoln said - our better angels. I admire Lincoln so much for his response to the young soldier who ran from battle whose mother appealed to him for mercy that he could not punish a young man to whom God had given a coward's legs. THAT I admire.
