... One is your belief that people should have a legal right to lie, libel, slander and defame.

The other is this particular case, in which you feel that Katie Couric, who is being sued for defamation, should not be held accountable for her alleged transgression(s) in that case.

I was saying that many people do not side with you on that first belief, even though they may side with you on the second one.
