- December 2013: NCAA enforcement staff received information regarding potential violations involving an unnamed then current men’s basketball player at MU. The allegations were not substantiated and do not appear in the final report.
- April 2014: Missouri receives a verbal notice of inquiry from the NCAA into potential violations in its men’s basketball program. Later that week, Haith leaves for Tulsa. 'Verbal' being the key word there. Per the NCAA website giving a detailed explanation of the investigation process to expect: "the involved NCAA member institution is informed of the enforcement staff's inquiry by a letter of preliminary inquiry to the institution's chief executive officer.... (it) shall advise the CEO that the enforcement staff will be undertaking a preliminary investigation and, whenever possible, shall indicate the nature of the potential violations (including the involved sport), the approximate time period in which the alleged violations occurred, the identities of the involved individuals, the approximate time frame for the investigation and an indication that other facts may be developed during the course of the investigation that may relate to additional violations. "
- April 28th, 2014: Kim Anderson is hired to replace the departed Frank Haith.
- May 2014: Apparently MU’s notice from the NCAA included no such useful details because just one month later it sends more student athletes to Georgia to participate in a second round of suspect internships. Documentation demonstrates that considerable correspondence occurred to Compliance for their vetting and approval process. A sunshine request to obtain clarification results in a response indicating that no physical document from the NCAA exists.
- August 2014: Despite being a focal point of an NCAA investigation, Tim Fuller is not only retained by MU while compiling Kim Anderson’s new staff but given a significant salary increase to $325,000 and assumes the new title Associate Head Coach with a 2 year extension. He will make over double any other assistant on the staff.
- October 2014: While MU is under investigation by the NCAA, and prior to the new staff coaching a single game at MU or anywhere at the D1 level Tim Fuller arranges for MU to host the 2nd (Jayson Tatum), 3rd (Michael Porter Jr), 8th (Miles Bridges), 13th (Isaiah Briscoe), 15th (Antonio Blakeney), 18th (Kobi Simmons), 20th (Thomas Bryant), 51st (Tyler Cook), 55th (Curtis Jones), 71st (Ted Kapita) ranked players in the nation per ESPN’s rankings and these visits are approved by MU. Ultimately MU ends up signing none of the players.
- December 2014: Tim Fuller is barred from recruiting activities by MU and sees his role drastically reduced.
- March 11, 2015: MU concludes what is at that time the worst season in the program’s modern era, and begins what will become the yearly ritual of a mass talent exodus.
- March 2015: Tim Fuller is dismissed from his role with 1 year remaining on his contract. MU agrees to pay Tim Fuller $100,000 as a buyout. His contract states "If there is any flagrant and major violation on the part of the employee to comply with the rules of the NCAA the University may terminate this contract for employment for cause and be free of financial commitment when that failure has been determined to exist."
- Mike Alden steps aside from being MU’s AD to take a job as an educator.
- November 2015: MU agrees to process the case through summary disposition.
- Jan 12th, 2016: In the midst of what will become the worst season of MU’s modern era to surpass the prior year, MU suffers a 94-61 home setback to the eventual 16-16 Arkansas Razorbacks that is not only the largest ever margin of defeat in Mizzou Arena but also the Razorbacks greatest margin of victory in a road game in its SEC history.
- Jan 13th, 2016: MU announces that it will be vacating an entire season’s worth of victories, is banning itself from postseason play, and will impose scholarship reductions on itself due to a joint investigation with the NCAA over incompetence in its compliance department leads to minor violations that give no recruiting or competitive advantage whatsoever. Kim Anderson indicates he had no idea MU was under investigation upon assuming the head coaching position in April 2014.
- April 2016: Hamstrung by penalties and the looming prospect of additional NCAA issues, MU retains its head coach who amazingly finished 14th in the SEC in each of his prior seasons and set back to back records for lowest attendance.
- August 2016: The NCAA finally responds, striking the violation of Fuller giving improper contact information to Gant’s mother for living accommodations at the lake but otherwise accepting all of MU’s self imposed penalties. Additionally the NCAA tacks on probation.
