I was told by a few different people close to Mizzou Athletics that one of the reasons the coaching staff cannot pull in higher ranked recruits is the strictest compliance staff in college basketball. Many programs apparently operate in a "grey area" in regards to recruiting rules. They are not necessarily cheating nor are they operating cleanly as well. This means that they are able to do more to appeal to higher ranked recruits than Mizzou.
I also want to point out that the staff found out they could take a graduate transfer in May according to Snelling. This again shows the ineptitude of Mizzou's compliance department. As experienced players that could make an immediate impact like Alex Oriakhi could've really helped this year and last year. By the time the staff found out they could take a grad transfer, there wasn't many options left.
Finally the NCAA violations in regards to the internship and Tim Fuller were directly because the compliance department did not do their jobs correctly and hurt the program further.
Blame Kim all you want, but the fact of the matter is that the compliance department has not necessarily made things easy for him from a recruiting standpoint. I know everyone on here wants to rip the guy but from my viewpoint and from what I've heard from people around the AD is that a fair bit of blame should be focused on the compliance officials at Mizzou. I'm sure I will be ripped by Fiji, SamClemens, TGR, and Tigerdb but I also try to look at this entire situation from a logical standpoint and not just bashing people/believing everything is perfect with Mizzou Basketball. Happy Posting People :)
